Job summary

Mars is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer in Didcot to develop laser micromachining processes for customers and to run production work using advanced laser systems. You’ll join a high-performing Laboratory team, gaining hands-on experience with UV- to IR-wavelength laser systems and femtosecond to nanosecond pulses.

The role requires a degree in lasers/optical engineering/physics or engineering, with practical experience; knowledge of micromachining, integration of complex laser systems, and

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience.
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous.
• Laser micro-machining, integration and test of complex laser systems, machine control software or programming, materials science, metrology, microscopes/SEMs, optical systems.
• Good computer and IT skills.
• Industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work.
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems across UV to IR wavelengths and various pulse durations.
• Operate and maintain laser systems and support lab activities.
