Job summary

MARS Recruitment is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer in Didcot. The role focuses on developing laser micromachining processes for customers and running production work using state-of-the-art laser systems (UV to IR, femto/picosecond/nanosecond pulses).

Ideal candidates hold a degree/MSc in Lasers, Optical Engineering, Physics or Engineering, with practical laser applications and strong test/integration skills. Benefits include competitive salary and pension.

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous
• Some knowledge of the following
• Laser micro-machining
• Integration and test of complex laser systems
• Machine control software or programming
• Materials science
• Metrology, microscopes, SEMs etc
• Optical systems
• Industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems spanning UV to IR and various pulse durations
• Collaborate within a high performing Laboratory team
