Job summary

Mars is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer in Didcot to develop laser micromachining processes and support production for customers. The role suits graduates in Lasers/Optics/Physics or engineers with two+ years of experience.

You will work with advanced laser systems (UV to IR, femtosecond/picosecond/nanosecond) and contribute to labs and production efforts in a hands-on environment. Benefits include a pension and private medical cover.

Qualifications

Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience
Practical laser applications experience is advantageous
Knowledge of laser micro-machining, integration and testing of laser systems and machine control software
Familiarity with materials science, metrology, microscopes/SEMs and optical systems
Strong IT and computer skills; industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

Develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work
Work with state-of-the-art laser systems spanning UV to IR and femto/pico/nano seconds
Collaborate in a high-performing Laboratory team to deliver solutions
Contribute to process development and optimization for various applications
