Job summary

MARS Recruitment is seeking a graduate or early-career Laser Applications Engineer to join its Didcot lab team. Develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work on state-of-the-art laser systems spanning UV to IR.

The role suits graduates in Lasers, Optical Engineering or Physics, with two years of industry experience. You will gain hands-on experience in micromachining, integration and test of laser systems, metrology, and optical measurement.

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous
• Some knowledge of Laser micromachining, integration and test of complex laser systems, machine control software or programming, materials science, metrology, microscopes, SEMs
• Good computer and IT skills
• Industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers
• Run production work for customers
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems from UV to IR and various pulse durations
• Collaborate with Laboratory team on projects
