Job summary

Mars Recruitment is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer in Didcot. You will develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work using state-of-the-art laser systems spanning UV to IR wavelengths. A hands-on scientist with practical laser experience is preferred.

The role requires a strong foundation in lasers/optical engineering, metrology and materials science, plus good IT skills. Industrial experience is desirable and a competitive salary is offered.

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience.
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous.
• Knowledge of laser micro-machining, integration and test of complex laser systems, machine control software or programming, materials science, metrology, microscopes, SEMs, optical systems.
• Good computer and IT skills.
• Industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers.
• Run production work for customers.
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems (UV to IR, femtosecond to ns pulses).
• Collaborate with the Laboratory team to optimize processes.
• Apply metrology and testing to evaluate results.
