Job summary

Westfield Academy in Watford is seeking an experienced KS3 SENCO to lead high-quality SEND provision for Years 7–9. You will ensure identification, support and monitoring of KS3 SEND students, align with the SEND Code of Practice, and coordinate EHCPs and APDR processes.

You will work with teachers, pastoral staff and families to implement effective provision, review impact, and promote inclusive practices across the Academy.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• NASENCO or NPQ SENCO preferred.
• Degree or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Evidence of recent and relevant professional development relating to SEND.

Responsibilities

• Lead SEND provision for KS3 (Years 7-9) under SENCO direction.
• Collaborate with Heads of Year, Inclusion Team and staff to identify and support KS3 SEND needs.
• Oversee APDR cycle for KS3 students receiving SEN support.
• Manage KS3 Provision Plans and ensure staff have up-to-date information.
• Monitor progress, attainment, attendance and engagement of KS3 SEND students.
• Coordinate and evaluate targeted SEND interventions across KS3.
• Support attendance, engagement and transition processes for SEND students.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies; lead EHCP Annual Reviews when required.
• Lead or deputise in SENCO duties; ensure JCQ Access Arrangements align with guidance.
• Develop staff understanding of SEND; promote inclusive practices across the Academy.
