Job summary

Village Hotels in Maidstone is seeking a Sous Chef and Kitchen Team Leader to bridge the Head Chef's vision with the realities of a busy service. You will own your section and support the brigade, ensuring each plate meets our exact standards for quality, temperature, and presentation.

You will lead on the kitchen floor, maintain food safety standards, coach junior staff, manage stock and costs, and help push the brand forward.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy kitchen environment is preferred.
• Understanding of food safety and HACCP guidelines.
• Ability to lead and develop junior kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

• The Kitchen Floor: running your own section while coordinating the wider flow of work.
• The Standards: ensuring food safety, brand delivery, and HACCP compliance.
• The Brigade: supervising and coaching junior kitchen team members and kitchen porters.
• The Commercial Reality: protecting gross profit by controlling stock and minimising wastage.
