Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Kitchen Supervisor to join our team in Edinburgh. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Plan and create menus in collaboration with the manager
  • Enforce food safety and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen
  • Manage inventory, place orders, and control food costs
  • Create and adjust staff schedules to meet operational needs
  • Train and mentor kitchen team members to improve their skills and performance
  • Assist in food preparation and cooking as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise in the kitchen
  • Collaborate with team to ensure timely and quality food service

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • Previous supervisory experience in a kitchen environment preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Culinary degree or diploma preferred
  • Current Food Safety Certification required
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in menu planning and recipe development
  • Solid understanding of food cost control and inventory management
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and basic maintenance
  • Knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniques
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
