JOB DESCRIPTION: RETAIL ASSISTANT AND SUNDAY SUPERVISOR
This role requires working every Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Applicants must have a full UK driving licence and access to a car.
STAFF
- Oversee absence procedures.
- Ensure shops are adequately staffed.
- Manage staff scheduling on the day to cover unplanned absences.
- Motivate the Sunday Retail Team.
TRAINING
Work closely with the Sunday Retail Team to ensure they have the tools and motivation to:
- Increase sales and customer numbers.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing high-quality, consistent customer service and maintaining high standards across all shops.
- Having excellent product knowledge.
- Reporting sales and initiating target-driven sales strategies.
COMMUNICATION
- Maintain open and clear communication channels.
- Handle information with discretion, in accordance with GDPR.
- Communicate effectively with staff, the office, and the bakery.
- Anticipate problems and escalate to senior management.
- Regularly report to the Commercial Manager and stay informed of significant developments.
CUSTOMERS
You will work in shops and cover sickness or holiday absences.
- Understand the importance of excellent customer service.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and appropriately.
- Acknowledge customers immediately with friendliness and helpfulness.
GENERAL ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOUR

MONEY
- Ensure the security of money, keys, and premises in all shops.
PRODUCTS
- Know product names and categories.
- Ensure price tickets are displayed and correct charges are made.
- Maintain proper stock rotation.
- Avoid selling stale or spoiled goods.
- Manage waste effectively.
- Upsell products, including hot drinks and daily offers, and promote these to staff.
ADMIN & PROCEDURES
- Complete paperwork and compliance requirements.
- Meet food safety standards.
- Conduct daily fridge and hot food temperature checks.
CLEANLINESS AND HYGIENE
- Adhere to food hygiene regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in all shops.
- Complete all cleaning tasks.
- Ensure personal and staff hygiene and neat appearance.
