Job summary

Soho House is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support the kitchen’s operations by cleaning and maintaining kitchenware, including pots, pans, cutlery, crockery and glassware. The role focuses on hygiene, safety, waste management and keeping back-of-house areas tidy and well organised.

Key duties include washing and sanitising items, operating dishwashing equipment, and ensuring compliance with UK food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in busy kitchen environments preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Attention to detail and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Wash, rinse, and sanitise all kitchen items including pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and glassware in line with daily operational needs.
• Operate commercial dishwashing and cleaning equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workspaces and storage areas.
• Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately, ensuring bins are emptied and areas are kept clean and tidy throughout the shift.
• Adhere to all Food Safety and Health & Safety policies and practices in line with UK regulations (including HACCP).
• Follow detailed cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Support the kitchen team by replenishing stock, reporting low supplies, and assisting where required during peak service times.
• Handle kitchen equipment and items carefully to minimise breakages and maintain inventory integrity.
• Replenish supplies such as toiletries, towels, and cleaning materials where required.
• Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals and equipment.
