Qualifications

• Proven experience working in a kitchen or hospitality environment (desirable).
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, with knowledge of HACCP principles.
• Level 1 Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain one (desirable).
• Physical stamina and ability to lift, carry, and move items regularly throughout a shift.
• Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong time keeping and reliability with a commitment to punctuality.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
• Excellent people skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills and willingness to take direction.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including washing, sanitising, and storing kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery.
• Prepare and maintain the kitchen environment in accordance with food safety regulations and organisational standards.
• Assist with the receipt, storage, and organisation of food and non-food supplies.
• Support the kitchen team by performing general duties such as peeling vegetables, portioning ingredients, and preparing items for cooking.
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers and waste disposal systems.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling in compliance with environmental and health and safety guidelines.
• Respond promptly to requests from kitchen and catering staff, demonstrating flexibility and a supportive attitude.
• Report any maintenance issues, equipment faults, or hygiene concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain excellent time keeping and reliability, ensuring consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Adhere to all health and safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment for all team members.
