Job summary

Agincare is seeking a reliable kitchen assistant to join a care home team on a bank basis. You will support the chef to prepare healthy meals, handle dietary requirements, and maintain hygiene in line with COSHH and food safety standards.

Shifts are flexible, with day-time hours and weekend elements depending on rota. No prior care experience is required; training up to QCF level 5 is promised in materials, and Agincare offers pension and refer-a-friend rewards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months right to work in the UK.
• Knowledge of food safety and COSHH.

Responsibilities

• Support the chef to create healthy meals and snacks, considering dietary requirements and allergens.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene per COSHH and safety protocols.
• Work as part of a team and also independently when needed, managing time effectively.
• Engage with residents and provide good communication and support.

What is required from you?

• A minimum of 12 months on your right to work in the UK
• Opportunities Available:
• Kitchen Assistant to work 40 hours per week - each shift is 10 hours, 4 shifts a week to include working alternative weekends
• Bank Kitchen Assistant - zero hour contract
• Combination of shift times; 7.30am - 5.30pm and 9.30am - 7.30pm
• No set shifts, flexible rota

Gorseway Manor

• 30 hours, 3 X 10 hour shifts 9am-7pm

A day in the life of a Kitchen Assistant

• Support the chef to create healthy/balanced meals and snacks, and ensuring a good understanding of various dietary requirements and allergens
• Ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the kitchen area, with good levels of hygiene particularly in line with COSHH regulations and health and safety protocols.
• Work as a team player, but have the ability to lone work when needed, effectively managing your time.
• Offer support, communication and engagement to the residents.

About You

You don't have to have worked in care before, a previous role in a different catering environment is great for someone willing to learn. We'd like you to have some prior knowledge of food safety and COSHH. You will be a caring, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to show empathy to the needs of others.
