Job summary

Agincare is hiring a Bank Kitchen Assistant to join our care home team. The role offers 40 hours per week across 4 shifts, with shifts from 7:30am–5:30pm or 9:30am–7:30pm and a rotating weekend pattern.

You’ll work alongside the chef to prepare healthy meals while supporting residents and maintaining strict hygiene, COSHH compliance and warmth in care. No prior care experience is required; a willingness to learn, empathy and a commitment to food safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food safety practices and COSHH.
• Empathetic, caring and motivated to learn in care settings.
• Ability to work well in a team and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support the chef to create healthy meals and snacks, understanding dietary requirements and allergens.
• Maintain high kitchen hygiene and cleanliness in line with COSHH and safety protocols.
• Work as part of a team and sometimes alone, with good time management.
• Provide support, communication and engagement to residents.

What is required from you?

• A minimum of 12 months on your right to work in the UK
• Kitchen Assistant to work 40 hours per week - each shift is 10 hours, 4 shifts a week to include working alternative weekends
• Combination of shift times; 7.30am - 5.30pm and 9.30am - 7.30pm
• No set shifts, flexible rota

Gorseway Manor

• 30 hours, 3 X 10 hour shifts 9am-7pm

A day in the life of a Kitchen Assistant

• Support the chef to create healthy/balanced meals and snacks, and ensuring a goodunderstanding of various dietary requirements and allergens
• Ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the kitchen area, with good levels of hygiene particularly in line with COSHH regulations and health and safety protocols.
• Work as a team player, but have the ability to lone work when needed, effectively managing your time.
• Offersupport, communication and engagement to the residents.

About You

You don't have to have worked in care before, a previous role in a different catering environment is great for someone willing to learn. We'd like you to have some prior knowledge of food safety and COSHH. You will be a caring, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to show empathy to the needs of others.
