Job summary

CYGNET is seeking an outstanding Assistant Chef at Cygnet Fountains in Blackburn, working part time 24 hours per week (3 x 8 hour shifts) on a 6 month fixed term contract.

You will assist in preparing balanced meals, handle basic kitchen tasks, manage stock deliveries and ensure hygiene and COSHH compliance. The role suits someone passionate about catering, with care setting experience preferred and a professional, proactive attitude. DBS check required on appointment.

Be a part of it.We are looking for an outstanding Assistant Chef who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference.You’ll be working part time, 24 hours a week (3 x 8 hour shifts), at Cygnet Fountains, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.Please note, this is a 6 month fixed term contract.Cygnet Fountains is a high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men who have severe and enduring mental illness and who may have been detained under the Mental Health Act. The individuals we support come to us following multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programmes or stepping down from secure settings.Your Day-to-Day...• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.You are...• Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member• Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times• An excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision• Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.Why Cygnet?
