Description du poste

We are working with a specialist water treatment business providing wastewater treatment solutions across the UK, supporting water companies, contractors and major infrastructure programmes. They are seeking a Key Account Manager to develop and manage strategic relationships across the Municipal Water sector, covering the North of the UK. This is a senior, field-based account role focused on developing a portfolio of municipal and framework partner accounts, increasing existing business and identifying new commercial opportunities. The successful candidate will become the primary commercial relationship for their accounts, moving relationships beyond individual projects towards longer-term, programme and framework-based partnerships. The role requires someone with established experience and contacts within the water industry who can quickly build credibility with customers and proactively develop opportunities. The client is specifically looking for a commercially driven Key Account Manager who wants to make an impact rather than simply maintain an existing portfolio. Regular travel throughout the North of the UK is a fundamental part of the position, including occasional overnight stays, so flexibility and willingness to travel are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and develop a portfolio of key municipal, contractor and framework partner accounts.
  • Build strategic account plans focused on long-term account growth, retention and increasing share of business.
  • Develop relationships with senior stakeholders, becoming a trusted commercial contact within key customer organisations.
  • Identify new opportunities across existing accounts through cross-selling, additional projects and wider programme involvement.
  • Develop opportunity pipelines and forecasts, maintaining accurate account and commercial information through CRM.
  • Work closely with Technical Sales and internal teams to develop solutions around customer requirements.
  • Lead and support technical and commercial tender submissions.
  • Negotiate and manage framework agreements, preferred supplier agreements and other long-term commercial arrangements.
  • Maintain an understanding of customer investment programmes, procurement frameworks, funding cycles and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the business through customer meetings, presentations, CPD sessions, industry events and exhibitions.
  • Monitor market activity, competitors and industry developments to identify further opportunities.
  • The position is specifically designed around growing named accounts from transactional or individual project relationships into strategic, repeatable partnerships.
Skills & Experience
  • Applicants should have strong Key Account Management, Business Development or Technical Sales experience within the water industry, ideally involving municipal water, wastewater, water companies, Tier 1 contractors or associated framework partners.
  • You will need a demonstrable track record of managing significant customer accounts, developing senior relationships and securing new commercial opportunities.
  • Experience working with frameworks, contracts or long-term service agreements would be particularly relevant.
  • A good understanding of water treatment processes, the UK water market and relevant environmental or regulatory requirements is required.
  • Strong commercial, communication, presentation and negotiation skills are essential, alongside the ability to operate independently while working closely with technical and commercial colleagues.
  • Established relationships and contacts across the water industry would be highly advantageous, with the client particularly interested in candidates capable of getting up to speed quickly and opening conversations within the market.
  • A full UK driving licence with no more than six points is required.
