Full Circle Technical Recruitment is recruiting aSenior Business Development Manager to drive new business across the UK water and wastewater sector. The role is predominantly home-based with travel and occasional visits to the London office.

You will own the full sales cycle from identifying opportunities to contract award, developing relationships with water companies, Tier 1 contractors and consultants, and collaborating with commercial and technical teams on proposals and strategy.

Qualifications

  • Proven business development and sales experience within water, wastewater, environmental engineering or utilities.
  • Existing knowledge of the UK water industry and its key clients, contractors and supply chain.
  • Experience selling technical products, engineered solutions, equipment, services or project-based solutions.
  • Demonstrable track record of identifying opportunities and converting them into new business.
  • Experience managing the complete sales cycle from prospecting to contract award.
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness with ability to understand client requirements, budgets and ROI.
  • Experience contributing to technical and commercial proposals.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a UK-wide territory.
  • Proactive approach to developing new relationships and opening new accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior management to develop and implement sales and BD strategies.
  • Research prospective clients, frameworks, investment programmes and market opportunities.
  • Understand client requirements and work with technical and commercial teams to develop solutions.
  • Coordinate with the commercial team in the preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
  • Ensure opportunities are fully captured, explored and progressed.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts, pipeline information and client activity.
  • Represent the business at client meetings and industry events.
  • Develop long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.

Business Development Manager

Location: Home-based / Travelling to sites/ offices across UK / London office when required

Note- The role is predominantly home-based and candidates do not need to live in Reading. Regular travel will be required, primarily across Southern England and occasionally to the Client's H/O in London.

We are recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager/ Sales Manager to join a growing engineering and technology business operating within the UK water and wastewater sector.

This is a senior commercial role focused on identifying, developing and securing new business across the UK. Working closely with the Commercial Director and wider technical team, you will develop relationships with water companies, Tier 1 contractors, consultants and other key industry stakeholders.

The role is a hybrid position, majority of the time being home based (anywhere in the UK), with regular travel to meet clients and develop new opportunities.
Additional occasional travel to the London office.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of the full business development and sales cycle, from identifying and qualifying opportunities through to client engagement, proposals, negotiation and contract award.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the UK water and wastewater market.
  • Build strong relationships with water companies, Tier 1 contractors, consultants, framework partners and other prospective clients.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and prospecting through to meetings, presentations, proposals, negotiation and contract award.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline information and client activity.
  • Monitor performance against agreed sales targets.
  • Represent the business at client meetings, industry events, conferences and networking opportunities.
  • Develop long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat and additional business.
About You

We are looking for an established Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, UK Sales Manager, Commercial Manager or Business Development professional with a strong track record of developing and winning business within a technical, engineering or infrastructure environment.

Ideally, you will have
  • Proven business development and sales experience within the water, wastewater, environmental engineering, process engineering or utilities sector.
  • Existing knowledge of the UK water industry and its key clients, contractors and supply chain.
  • Experience selling technical products, engineered solutions, equipment, services or project-based solutions.
  • A demonstrable track record of identifying opportunities and converting them into new business.
  • Experience managing the complete sales cycle.

  • Commercial awareness with the ability to understand client requirements, budgets and return on investment.
  • Experience contributing to technical and commercial proposals.

Experience working with or selling into UK water companies, wastewater treatment businesses, Tier 1 contractors, engineering consultancies or framework partners would be particularly relevant.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to take a key role within an ambitious and growing engineering business.

You will have significant autonomy to develop the UK market, build relationships with major industry clients and identify new opportunities across the water and wastewater sector.

The position is home-based with UK-wide travel, with the option to work from the company's London office where preferred.
