Qualifications

  • Curiosity, motivation, and a passion for delivering great customer service.
  • Experience designing and building database server environments.
  • Awareness of Azure database technologies (Azure SQL, Synapse, Fabric) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide DBA support to managed service clients.
  • Proactively monitor and respond to automated SQL alerts.
  • Carry out SQL Server performance reviews and tuning.
  • Support and deliver database consulting projects as part of a team.
  • Hands‑on system administration including installs, upgrades, patching, and fixes.

This is a brilliant opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across on‑prem SQL Server and Azure database services, while being supported by a team that truly believes in training, mentoring, and career development.

Key Responsibilities of the Junior SQL DBA

As part of our SQL team, you’ll provide DBA support to managed service clients and, as your confidence grows, get involved in exciting database consultancy projects.

Your role will include:

  • Resolving database support requests from managed service clients
  • Proactively monitoring and responding to automated SQL alerts
  • Carrying out SQL Server performance reviews and tuning
  • Supporting and delivering database consulting projects as part of a team
  • Hands‑on system administration including installs, upgrades, patching and fixes
  • Advanced troubleshooting, including working with Microsoft and other vendors

Core skills & experience
  • 1–2 years’ experience in SQL Server DBA support / administration
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment

  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
Nice to have (but not essential)
  • Awareness of Azure database technologies (Azure SQL, Synapse, Fabric)
  • Exposure to other database platforms (Oracle, PostgreSQL)
  • SSIS, SSAS and SSRS experience
  • Experience working in an IT Managed Services environment
  • Microsoft SQL Server or Azure certifications
