Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer in Birmingham to support the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across diverse sectors. You will work with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams to gain exposure from concept to completion while developing technical skills and taking on increasing responsibility.

The role focuses on supporting power, lighting and small power design, along with calculations, reports, specifications, and tender

Qualifications

• Previous professional experience in electrical engineering or building services is required.
• This is not a graduate position.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Some experience designing or assisting with electrical building services systems.
• An understanding of relevant building regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the design of electrical building services systems including power, lighting and small power.
• Assist with electrical design calculations and technical reports.
• Support the preparation of specifications and tender documentation.
• Coordinate designs with mechanical, sustainability and BIM teams.
• Attend design team meetings, client meetings and site visits.
• Support projects through the different RIBA stages.
• Contribute to energy-efficient and low-carbon design solutions.
• Work across sectors including healthcare, commercial, education and residential.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy in Birmingham.

This independent engineering consultancy has been delivering building services solutions for over 25 years, working across healthcare, commercial, education, residential, life sciences, leisure and public sector projects.

The business has a strong reputation for technical quality, collaboration and sustainable, low-carbon design. The Birmingham office is entering an exciting period of growth, with ambitious plans to significantly expand the team over the next two years.

The Role

As a Junior Electrical Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across a variety of sectors.

Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will gain exposure to projects from concept through to completion while developing your technical skills and taking on increasing responsibility.

• Supporting the design of electrical building services systems including power, lighting and small power.
• Assisting with electrical design calculations and technical reports.
• Supporting the preparation of specifications and tender documentation.

About You

Previous professional experience in electrical engineering or building services is required. This is not a graduate position.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience within an electrical engineering or building services environment.
• A degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Some experience designing or assisting with electrical building services systems.
• Knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux or similar.
• Revit competency is desirable.
• An understanding of relevant building regulations and industry standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A willingness to learn and develop technically.
• An interest in progressing towards professional accreditation.
