Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Croydon or London team. You will lead electrical building services design from concept through to completion, coordinating with the design team and clients to deliver high-quality projects.

Ideal candidates will have several years' building services experience, UK standards knowledge, and proficiency in AutoCAD with Revit/BIM as an asset.

Qualifications

• Several years' professional experience in electrical building services engineering.
• Experience in consultancy, contractor or similar engineering environment.
• A relevant electrical engineering qualification.
• Strong knowledge of electrical building services design and UK standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; Revit/BIM experience would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to manage your own workload and meet project deadlines.
• The confidence to take ownership of projects and contribute to the development of junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Leading and delivering electrical building services designs from concept through to completion.
• Producing and reviewing electrical calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Working across systems including lighting, small power, fire alarms, emergency power and other electrical services.
• Carrying out site surveys, inspections and attending project meetings.
• Coordinating electrical designs with mechanical, public health, architectural and structural disciplines.
• Liaising directly with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Providing technical support and guidance to more junior members of the team.
• Reviewing designs and ensuring projects are delivered to the required technical and quality standards.
• Taking increasing responsibility for projects, depending on experience.

About the Company

We are an established building services and engineering consultancy delivering projects across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, leisure and industrial.

The business provides mechanical, electrical and public health engineering services, with a focus on practical design, energy efficiency and sustainable engineering solutions. The team works closely with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants to deliver projects from initial design through to construction.

The company has a strong track record of staff retention, with many members of the team having built long-term careers within the business. The current Managing Director is a great example of this, having originally joined the company as an engineer before progressing into senior leadership.

The Role

We are looking for an Intermediate or Senior Electrical Engineer to join the team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to take responsibility across a varied portfolio of building services projects, working closely with clients, contractors and other members of the design team.

Depending on your level of experience, you will be involved in:

About You

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who is confident working within a building services environment.

You will ideally have:

• Several years' professional experience in electrical building services engineering.
• Experience working within a consultancy, contractor or similar engineering environment.
• A relevant electrical engineering qualification.
• Strong knowledge of electrical building services design and UK standards.
• Experience delivering projects from design through to construction.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; Revit/BIM experience would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• The ability to manage your own workload and meet project deadlines.
• The confidence to take ownership of projects and contribute to the development of junior engineers.

For a Senior-level appointment, experience managing projects and providing technical leadership would be particularly beneficial.
