Job summary

Serco Limited is seeking an Apprentice Desktop Support Technician for the Defence Academy IT team in Swindon. You will provide frontline technical support for desktop hardware, software, and related IT services, helping colleagues stay connected, productive, and secure.

You will gain hands-on experience across configuration, installation, maintenance, imaging, and basic system administration while contributing to IT projects and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 4 GCSEs grade A-C/9-4 including English, Maths and IT.
• Interest in information technology and a strong willingness to learn.
• Clear communication with people of varying technical abilities.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work to high standards.
• SC clearance or ability to obtain clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line and second-line technical support for desktop hardware, software, and related IT services.
• Resolve incidents escalated from the Service Desk, ensuring service levels are met.
• Support configuration, installation, maintenance, and imaging of desktop and laptop devices.
• Assist with preparation, issue, collection, and movement of IT equipment with accurate asset records.
• Carry out basic system administration activities, including user and computer accounts.
• Contribute to problem management, knowledge sharing, and IT projects.
