Job summary

Worldpay is seeking a Software Engineer - Java to join our Cambridge Tech team and help shape the future of global commerce. You’ll work on the ecommerce payments gateway, writing Java, SQL and PL/SQL, and partner with a principal engineer for guidance.

You’ll review code, ensure quality, and collaborate with testers to expand automated tests while designing rollout strategies for new features. This role involves occasional on-call support for deployments and a strong focus on reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong Java knowledge and database interaction skills.
• Experience delivering software in high-quality, reliability-critical environments.
• Familiarity with SQL databases (Oracle or similar).
• Experience working with large codebases and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Join a cross-functional team and participate in SAFe planning and design sessions.
• Develop changes in Java, SQL, and PL/SQL for the payments gateway.
• Review and gate code for quality and reliability with engineers.
• Collaborate with testers to scope test coverage and drive automated tests.
• Design rollout and monitoring strategies for new features and deployments.
• Provide after-hours support for release deployments as needed.
