Job summary

Worldpay is seeking a Software Engineer - Java to join our global payments platform. You will design and develop Java-based solutions for a high‑volume gateway, focusing on robustness, security and scalability.

You'll collaborate with UK and US teams, participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of the architecture and SDLC practices. A background in payments/fintech is highly beneficial.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to build secure, scalable Java-based distributed applications in Linux.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases (Oracle) and SQL.
• Experience with multi‑tier architectures and design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions in Java, SQL and PL/SQL for payments gateway.
• Collaborate with global engineers (UK and US) and participate in code reviews.
• Support 24/7 mission-critical service and contribute to SDLC activities.
• Mentor teammates, help reduce technical debt and improve practices.
• Engage in release support and deployment outside standard hours.
