Job summary

Global Payments Inc. in Cambridge is seeking a Software Engineer - Java to join our WPG Engineering team and help shape the future of global commerce.

You will work in cross-functional teams with developers, testers, a product owner and a scrum master to maintain and extend our ecommerce payments gateway, developing in Java and SQL, reviewing payment spec documents, and contributing to tests and production deployments.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with Java and SQL (PL/SQL desirable).
• Track record of delivering solutions to complex business problems.
• Experience applying secure software development practices.
• Experience with distributed systems technologies (IAM, PKI, observability, containerisation).
• Experience working in Linux-based development and production environments.

Responsibilities

• Join cross-functional teams to maintain and add capabilities to an ecommerce payments gateway.
• Develop changes in Java and SQL to the gateway.
• Work with Product Owner to specify detailed behaviours; review payments industry documents.
• Partner with test engineers to scope test coverage and contribute to automated tests.
• Support deployment of new capabilities to production, delivering value for customers.
• Participate in a release support rota, with occasional out-of-hours involvement.
• Use generative AI tools as part of workflow, supported by internal tooling.
