Job summary

Line Up Aviation seeks a Software Developer for a 12-month, on-site contract in Portsmouth. You will join a 7-person scrum team to deliver a satellite management system, contributing across design, development, and testing within an Agile environment.

The role requires strong Java core expertise (8+), Spring Boot & Hibernate, REST over HTTPS, microservices, and distributed systems, plus experience with CI/CD, Git, Jira, and UML/SysML. SC clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Java Core (v8+)
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and Spring Framework including Hibernate
• Good knowledge of REST over HTTPS
• Experience in microservices architecture
• Experience with RESTful web services
• Experience with distributed systems
• Knowledge of design patterns
• Experience in Agile development
• Knowledge of CI/CD delivery techniques
• Source control with Git
• Experience with Jira
• UML/SysML using Enterprise Architect or similar tools
• Ability to self-motivate and work well in a team
• Ability to promote innovation in self and others
• Ability to interact with stakeholders confidently
• SC clearance is required

Responsibilities

• Join a 7-member scrum team as part of a wider program to deliver a management system for a new satellite.
• Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle.
• Work on design using UML, development using Java technologies, and testing.
• Develop code within an Agile scrum environment.
• Collaborate with the team to design, implement, and test features for a new product development.
• Carry out task estimation in line with sprint planning.
