IT Manager - Nonprofit Organisation (Remote - with occasional office attendance)

The Role

As the IT Manager, you'll take ownership of the organisation's IT systems (excluding Salesforce), supporting day-to-day operations while leading essential technology projects.

You'll play a key role in managing a major SharePoint migration project, ensuring smooth transitions, enhancing staff collaboration, and optimizing digital tools for the future.

This role involves hands-on technical support, project leadership, and strategic planning — ideal for someone who enjoys making a real difference with technology.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing first-line IT support and training to staff
• Managing IT infrastructure and Microsoft 365 environments
• Planning and executing the move from on-premises servers to SharePoint Online with minimal disruption
• Preserving and managing metadata and tagging structures for compliance and content discoverability
• Migrating and implementing term stores, content types, and managed metadata fields
• Collaborating with stakeholders to define metadata requirements and optimize user experience
• Using migration tools such as ShareGate, Metalogix, or AvePoint for analysis, mapping, and data transfer
• Conducting post-migration checks to ensure metadata integrity and search functionality
• Working with external IT support to ensure high-quality support and services
• Maintaining security standards, including GDPR and Cyber Essentials compliance
• Supporting broader tech innovation and continuous improvement across the organisation

Ideal candidates will bring:

• 3+ years of IT management experience
• Strong experience with SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server (2013/2016/2019), and Microsoft 365
• A proven track record of successful SharePoint migrations
• Knowledge of metadata management, taxonomy, and tagging best practices
• Experience using SharePoint migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, Metalogix, AvePoint)
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project delivery skills
• A genuine passion for working in or supporting the nonprofit sector
• Microsoft 365 certifications
