Hadleigh High School is seeking to appoint an Intervention Learning Support Assistant who will play a key role in improving outcomes for students with additional learning needs by delivering targeted, evidence-informed intervention programmes. You will work primarily with small groups of students who are withdrawn from their usual lessons for planned intervention sessions, rather than providing routine one-to-one or in-class classroom support.

Key Responsibilities

This is not an exhaustive list and you will be expected to show flexibility and assist with other tasks of a similar nature.

You will:
  • deliver agreed intervention programmes to small groups of pupils in accordance with the school's programme, training and guidance
  • withdraw pupils from lessons at agreed times and ensure that intervention sessions are purposeful, structured and engaging
  • prepare resources and activities required for each intervention session
  • follow programme guidance accurately while adapting delivery appropriately to meet the needs of the group
  • maintain high expectations of pupil engagement, effort, behaviour and progress
  • encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
  • use questioning, modelling, explanation and appropriate scaffolding to support pupils' learning
  • provide opportunities for pupils to practise and apply newly acquired knowledge and skills
  • recognise when pupils are experiencing difficulty and respond appropriately within the boundaries of the intervention programme.
