Job summary

Responsibilities

• Handle inbound customer enquiries by phone and email, preparing accurate quotations and converting them into orders.
• Process orders end to end through SAP, maintaining pricing, stock and delivery information.
• Manage and develop an existing customer base, building long-term relationships and identifying additional sales opportunities.
• Support the external sales team with quotations, follow-ups and account administration.
• Liaise with operations and transport to coordinate stock availability, processing and delivery schedules.
• Resolve customer queries and delivery issues proactively, keeping customers informed.
• Contribute to branch targets and support a collaborative, team-first office culture.

Hygrove Partners is recruiting on behalf of a global leader in the metals and steel industry for an Internal Sales Executive to join their well-established Exeter branch.

THE ROLE

A newly available Internal Sales position within the Exeter branch, supporting the external sales team and managing inbound customer demand. This is the commercial engine room of the branch: quoting, order processing, account management and problem solving, working closely with operations and transport to make sure customers get what they need, when they need it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• - Handle inbound customer enquiries by phone and email, preparing accurate quotations and converting them into orders
• - Process orders end to end through SAP, maintaining accurate pricing, stock and delivery information
• - Manage and develop an existing customer base, building long-term relationships and identifying additional sales opportunities
• - Support the external sales team with quotations, follow-ups and account administration
• - Liaise closely with operations and transport to coordinate stock availability, processing and delivery schedules
• - Resolve customer queries and delivery issues proactively, keeping customers informed throughout
• - Contribute to branch targets and support a collaborative, team-first office culture

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• - Hands-on SAP experience is the single most important requirement. The system is complex and internal training capacity is limited, so proven SAP proficiency is valued significantly above industry or product knowledge. Full product training is provided through site visits, driver ride-alongs and customer visits.
• - Previous internal sales, telesales or commercial customer service experience
• - A confident telephone manner and genuine relationship-building ability
• - Accurate, organised and comfortable managing a high volume of quotations and orders
• - Team-oriented, proactive and reliable - the office operates as one shared space across all functions
• - A metals, steel or distribution background is welcome but not essential
• - Candidates within approximately an hour's commute of Exeter will be considered - the search is not limited to the immediate area

WHAT IS ON OFFER

• - Salary up to 38,000
• - Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00 with a one-hour lunch
