Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking a Civil CAD Technician/Engineer to join its infrastructure team in Godalming/Waterloo. Hybrid work pattern with 1–4 years' experience, offering the chance to gain exposure across residential, commercial, and other sectors while progressing towards ICE Chartership.

You will develop CAD drawings, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and work under mentoring to advance towards ICE professional registration.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years' experience in civil engineering or infrastructure design.
• HNC, BEng, MEng or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in highways, drainage, earthworks, level strategies or plot design.
• Good CAD skills and an interest in developing technical design capabilities.
• Experience using Civil 3D and/or Site3D would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.
• Producing high-quality CAD drawings and technical design information.
• Working on highways, drainage, SuDS, earthworks and plot design.
• Developing level strategies and undertaking cut-and-fill assessments.
• Preparing technical reports, specifications and planning submissions.
• Coordinating infrastructure designs with wider project teams.
• Liaising with clients and other stakeholders as experience develops.
• Working alongside senior engineers, receiving mentoring and technical guidance.

Civil CAD Technician / Engineer - Godalming / Waterloo

Location: Godalming / Waterloo, London

Salary: £33,000 - £42,000 DOE

The Opportunity

An established, independently owned transport planning and infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil CAD Technician / Engineer to join its growing infrastructure team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1-4 years' experience to develop their technical skills while working on a varied portfolio of development-led projects across residential, commercial, leisure, healthcare and other sectors.

You'll work closely with experienced Principal Engineers, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction. With a close-knit team and a strong focus on professional development, you'll have the opportunity to take on responsibility early and build towards ICE professional registration.

The Role

What We're Looking For

• Around 1-4 years' experience in civil engineering or infrastructure design
• HNC, BEng, MEng or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in one or more areas of highways, drainage, earthworks, level strategies or plot design
• Good CAD skills and an interest in developing your technical design capabilities
• Experience using Civil 3D and/or Site3D would be advantageous
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning
• An interest in progressing towards ICE professional registration
