Job description

As an Instructor of Food Technology, you will be expected to take responsibility to give instruction and learning in vocational training in your subject area/s within the Home's Education facility, ensuring a high quality of training that meets with Education standards and requirements., Role: To take responsibility to give instruction and learning in vocational training in Food Technology within the Home's Education facility, ensuring a high quality of training that meets with Education Standards, Children's Homes regulations, Children's Homes National Minimum Standards and the Youth Justice Standards and requirements., Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Level 4 or above Education and Training qualification.

  • understanding of restorative and trauma‑informed practice.
  • knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and child protection and safeguarding principles.
  • experience of teaching in a residential childcare/education environment or of teaching in a SEND/SEMH provision.
  • experience of supporting children or young people with complex and challenging behaviour to engage with education activities.
  • Right to work in the UK, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme or having secured any other relevant work visa.
  • Level 4 or above qualification in Food Technology.
  • 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including math and English or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2 in math and English.
  • Ability to provide instruction in vocational training.
  • IT skills particularly in MS Office Word, Excel and database programmes, e‑mail and the Internet.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including face‑to‑face, telephone and written communication skills.
  • Able to listen actively, ask questions, clarify points and check understanding.
  • Able to deal positively and objectively with challenging and demanding pupils.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team.
  • Able to work using own initiative and adhere to strict timescales.
  • Able to develop and maintain manual and computerised administrative systems and databases.

About Adel Beck

At Adel Beck we care for 24 young people aged 10 to 18. They are referred to us following court proceedings, placed on remand or sentenced to a period of detention, or because they need to be placed in secure accommodation for their own safety or the safety of others. You will lead a team of care practitioners who have a vital role in the daily lives and long‑term outlook for the vulnerable young people at Adel Beck, who may have complex needs and display challenging behaviours.
