Job summary

Lower Meadow Academy in England is seeking an inspirational SENDCo to lead and develop the school's SEND provision, working with academy leaders, staff, families and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for pupils. The role requires QTS, a strong understanding of SEND legislation, and experience in a primary setting, with a focus on data-informed planning, annual reviews and inclusive teaching.

Qualifications

  • Holds QTS and is eligible to teach in the UK.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Successful teaching experience in a primary setting.
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND to make progress.
  • Ability to use assessment data to plan and evaluate provision.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and high expectations.
  • Belief that every child can succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the academy's SEND provision, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and Equality Act 2010.
  • Oversee identification, assessment, monitoring and review of SEND pupils, including SEND register.
  • Coordinate and monitor provision for SEND, including EHCPs.
  • Lead annual reviews, EHCP applications and referrals, ensuring statutory requirements and timescales are met.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and training to colleagues on inclusive teaching and learning.
  • Work with parents, carers, external agencies and Trust colleagues to secure outcomes.
  • Analyse pupil progress and SEND data to evaluate interventions and inform improvement planning.
  • Champion an inclusive culture where SEND pupils are fully supported and engaged.
