A top-tier legal firm in London is seeking an Insolvency Litigation Associate with 4-6 years of post-qualification experience. Our client, a full‑service, multi‑office law firm highly ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, is looking to strengthen its litigation offering with the appointment of an associate in Central London.
Firm: The firm specialises in high‑value and complex commercial litigation, helping it to become the UK’s leading disputes law firm. It is renowned for its innovative approach to complex disputes and persistent focus on achieving the best results for its clients.
Insolvency department sits within the commercial litigation team, comprising several members in multiple locations. Clients include officeholders and other stakeholders such as lenders, directors, shareholders and investors. The team has the depth and expertise to conduct heavyweight litigation and to obtain recognition of foreign insolvency proceedings in the UK, as well as UK insolvency proceedings overseas. Where necessary, partners draw on the expertise of litigation specialists in trusts, employment, competition, financial crime and tax to provide a comprehensive insolvency litigation and asset recovery service.
The ideal candidate will be between 4 and 6 PQE, qualified in English law, with strong academics and a good‑firm background that ensures excellent work and training. The candidate should have initiative, confidence, strong teamwork skills, be well organised and possess first‑rate communication ability both in writing and verbally. Versatility and an entrepreneurial spirit are also essential.
Experience: Acting for or against insolvency officeholders, particularly on contentious litigation mandates, is required. Strong litigation expertise, with a case history where insolvency has been a prominent feature, is also important.
All members of the department – from paralegal to partner – are encouraged and expected to develop, deploy, and participate in business development and marketing initiatives and activities and to contribute to the department’s growth and brand recognition. The candidate will be supported by the partners to develop their personal brand in the market, consistent with the team’s wider strategy.
