Job summary

Miller & Carter Maidstone is seeking a dedicated Night Porter to welcome late arrivals, maintain a safe, clean environment, and assist guests overnight. This overnight role typically runs 11pm to 7am and requires you to be the first point of contact for late check-ins and walk-ins.

You will ensure guest safety, respond to inquiries, handle complaints, and support front-of-house tasks such as breakfast setup when required.

Qualifications

• Experience in guest-facing roles is preferred.
• Ability to work night shifts and lone working safely.
• Excellent verbal communication and a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for late check-ins and walk-ins.
• Provide a warm welcome to guests and maintain a tidy front of house.
• Support breakfast setup and cleaning tasks as needed.
• Ensure guest safety and respond to inquiries or complaints.
• Assist in evacuations if required.
• Answer phone calls and manage guest questions.

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

What you’ll do in this role:

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You’ll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
