Job summary

M&B is hiring a night porter to welcome guests and support overnight operations. You will check in late arrivals, maintain a warm atmosphere, and assist with front-of-house tasks including breakfast area setup. Safety, privacy, and guest satisfaction are top priorities.

Role requires independent work, strong communication, and a professional demeanor under pressure. DBS checks are part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Overnight availability and willingness to work 11pm–7am.
• Ability to work independently and lone shifts.
• DBS check required as part of recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for late check-ins and walk-ins.
• Provide a warm, friendly welcome to guests.
• Assist with front-of-house cleaning and breakfast area setup as needed.
• Ensure guest and business safety and security at all times.
• Evacuate guests and team safely in a fire emergency.
• Answer telephone queries and resolve guest complaints to ensure a pleasant stay.

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS ROLE:

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You’ll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
