Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers PLC is hiring a Night Porter to support guest experience in our venues. You will check in late arrivals and walk-ins, deliver a warm welcome, and assist with front-of-house tasks such as cleaning and breakfast setup where needed.

You will also help maintain safety and security, respond to guest inquiries, and participate in occasional team initiatives. Overnight shifts, DBS checks, and a friendly, can-do attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality or guest-facing roles.
• Ability to work overnight shifts and lone shifts.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly welcome to guests.
• Help with front-of-house cleaning and breakfast setup as needed.
• Maintain guest safety and security at all times.
• Assist during emergencies and evacuations.

Job description

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

What You'll Do In This Role

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You’ll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
