Job summary

Starling Bank is recruiting an Infrastructure Engineer to build and support our physical data centres and cloud estates across AWS and GCP. The role focuses on secure, scalable infrastructure and automation to empower engineering teams and protect customers.

You will work across internal ops and software teams, shaping patterns, driving automation, and improving resilience in a hybrid UK-based environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with data centre networks and secure traffic isolation.
• Experience with firewalls and Linux administration.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and provisioning tools.
• Understanding of system architecture and design.
• Experience with Python or Golang and scripting languages like Bash.
• Experience building and maintaining containerised services.

Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into technical implementations with delivery teams.
• Modify critical physical infrastructure supporting the bank.
• Design and build patterns/frameworks for other teams to reuse.
• Introduce automation to reduce toil and improve reliability.
• Take ownership of projects and ensure timely delivery.
• Diagnose system and network failures under pressure.
• Stay updated on industry developments and new technologies.
• Collaborate with Security and Developer Experience teams.
