Job summary

Cabot is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to manage enterprise infrastructure with a focus on Windows, NetApp, VMware, and cloud-integrated services. Hybrid role from Kings Hill, Kent with robust security, backup, and governance responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will drive reliability, perform 3rd line support, and collaborate across vendors and internal teams to deliver secure, compliant IT services.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high availability, reliability, and security across infrastructure and services.
• Lead vulnerability management, patching, and preventive maintenance.
• Provide 3rd line support and resolve complex incidents.
• Contribute to infrastructure design and project delivery.
• Support governance, compliance, and audits (SOX, PCI-DSS).
• Operate within ITIL incident/problem/change management.
• Plan disaster recovery testing for business continuity.
• Monitor and optimise systems for performance and integrity.
• Collaborate with teams, partners, and vendors.

Key responsibilities include

• Ensure high availability, reliability, and security are embedded across infrastructure and service delivery.
• Lead vulnerability management, patching, and preventative maintenance across platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and 3rd line support, resolving complex and high-impact incidents.
• Review, validate, and contribute to infrastructure design and project delivery.
• Support IT governance, compliance, and audits (including SOX, PCI-DSS), ensuring adherence to controls and regulations.
• Operate within ITIL frameworks, managing incidents, problems, and changes effectively.
• Plan and execute disaster recovery testing to ensure business continuity.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise systems to maintain performance and integrity.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to deliver and support services.
• Integrate security and best practice into all technology and lifecycle decisions.
• Support ongoing system administration, service improvements, and out-of-hours escalation where required.

We are looking for someone with

Essential

• Expert level NetApp Ontap and AFF skills
• Strong expertise in Windows Server platforms.
• Experience with VMware and Microsoft AVD
• Microsoft Exchange (2016/2019 Hybrid), Office 365, and PowerShell scripting.
• Dell Server Hardware knowledge
• Veeam Backup and Replication
• Web technologies (IIS, .NET).
• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DFS, DHCP, WINS.
• Windows/SQL clustering.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Understanding of ITIL processes and service management.

Desirable

• Azure administration (servers, storage, networking).
• Office 365 support (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint).
• Intune device management.
• Security tools (CrowdStrike, Rapid7).
• Experience in financial services environments.
• Monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG).
• Azure Entra administration.
• Ivanti patching and deployment.Certifications (Preferred):
• MCSE, VCP, VMCE, NCDA
