Job summary

Technology Resourcing Ltd. is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer in Godalming, Surrey for a permanent role. The role covers a broad, hands-on scope across on-premise and cloud infrastructure with a hybrid work pattern.

You will support 150 users in a regulated environment, reporting to the IT Director in a small team and handling 2nd/3rd line tasks as needed. The role focuses 80% on infrastructure and 20% on 2nd/3rd line support, with responsibilities including VMware, Azure,

Qualifications

• Experience delivering infrastructure upgrades and patching programmes.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and project delivery skills.
• Experience with Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Entra.
• Familiarity with VMware, SAN storage and backup/recovery (Veeam).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve hybrid Microsoft estate around Windows Server, Azure and M365 with AD/Entra ID.
• Plan and deliver infrastructure upgrade and migration projects.
• Manage endpoints with Intune and enforce device compliance.
• Patch, monitor vulnerabilities and back up with Veeam.
• Support 2nd/3rd line tickets and contribute to ISO 27001/compliance efforts.
• Support 80% infrastructure / 20% 2nd/3rd line duties.

Location: Godalming, Surrey
Role Type: Permanent Staff
Salary: Up to £50,000 + benefits

If you’re an experienced Infrastructure Engineer looking for a broad, hands-on role, working across a diverse range of infrastructure projects, this could be just the role for you.

You will report directly to the IT Director, within a small IT team of 7, supporting 150 users in this highly regulated and scaling company, where compliance and security is of paramount importance. It is predominantly a hybrid Microsoft environment spanning on-premise and virtual (VMWare x 14) servers, Azure, AD, M365, Entra etc.

Examples of current and forthcoming projects include: Upgrading VMWare 8->9; Migrating websites infrastructure to Azure; Improving Disaster Recovery (inc Azure Site Recovery); HP server refresh; Reviewing and improving Data Loss Prevention; Enhancing SFTP security. This role is targeted to be 80% infrastructure / 20% 2nd /3rd line support, but a little more time may be spent with support at the start, to help improve their capability.

Key responsibilities

• Maintaining and improving their hybrid Microsoft estate centred around Windows Server, Azure and Microsoft 365 with Active Directory and Entra ID for identity services
• Planning and delivering a variety of infrastructure improvement projects, including server and platform upgrades and migrations
• Endpoint management and device compliance using Intune
• Patching and vulnerability management
• Optimising on-prem and virtual servers (VMware), storage (SAN) and backups (Veeam)
• Resolving escalated 2nd and 3rd line support tickets
• Helping to implement ISO 27001 and other compliance initiatives, inc. evidencing technical controls

Mandatory Skills

• Experienced and proactive Infrastructure Engineer, used to independently delivering and owning infrastructure upgrades, migrations and patching programmes
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and project delivery skills
• Windows Server
• Microsoft 365
• Active Directory
• VMware, SAN storage and backup/recovery solutions (ideally Veeam)

Desired Skills

• SQL Server and Windows Server admin knowledge
• Experience working within regulated or security-focused environments
• Exposure to Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 or similar frameworks
• Relevant Microsoft or VMware certifications, although delivery experience is more important
• The ability and willingness to help/mentor less experienced Engineers
• Flexible working hours (7.5 hrs between 08:00-18:00) with the option to work longer hours to accrue an extra day’s leave each month

• This is an office-based role in Godalming, Surrey, with the option to work from home one day a week (after probation).
