Responsibilities
What you will be doing:
- Installation and preparation of new IT hardware and infrastructure
- Complete minor repairs and upgrades to equipment and cabling
- Maintain an asset register
- Manage helpdesk: ensuring calls are resolved and closed in a timely manner
- Escalate calls to 3rd‑party support where necessary
- Provide software support for all users, producing user‑friendly guides where appropriate
- Perform software rebuilds of laptops and PCs as needed
- Assist with Microsoft Office 365, internet and related activities, including development and maintenance
- Support staff and students in the use of technology across all sites, including classroom support
- Provide ICT support and training to feeder primary schools
- Perform health checks across servers and end‑user devices, highlighting damage and failures
- Promote safeguarding requirements, adhering to the DFE Guidance "Keeping Children Safe in Education" and the school's Child Protection policy
- Comply with all school and Trust policies and procedures, including those related to conduct, child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Install and configure relevant software and hardware (e.g., mobile apps, printers, projectors, scanners, cameras)
- Address IT issues by prioritising in response to customer service level agreements
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly health checks on ICT equipment, repairing or replacing as needed
- Administer security access requirements and permissions for stakeholders, escalating as necessary (e.g., password resets)
- Support the rollout of upgrades or new systems or applications
Training & Development
- Comprehensive introductory modules to technical concepts
- Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship standard
- Training for all pathways of an IT career (support technician, network technician, digital communications technician)
- Specialise in evidence for the Support Technician pathway
- E‑learning training materials
- Bi‑weekly virtual classroom training on all apprenticeship options
- Access to virtual labs to develop technical competency
- Monthly work‑based coach visits and competency checks
- 9 am – 5 pm support desk for technical support
- Personal learning and thinking skills and key skills development
- Option for vendor and technical certificates (e.g., CompTIA)
Requirements
- Must be a driver who holds a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Has a true passion for technology and new emerging technology
- Feels confident using hardware, software and other technical devices
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic about learning, with motivation to achieve success
- Loves helping others and enjoys working with people of all ages
- Committed to completing the full apprenticeship programme
- Able to work well in a team and independently using initiative
- Educated to GCSE standard English and Maths grade 4 (or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths)

Job Details
Full time – 37 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am – 3:30 pm with a 30‑minute lunch break.
Salary: £24,796 per annum + 52 p per mile allowance.
Expected duration: 15 months plus a 4‑month End‑Point Assessment. On passing your apprenticeship you will gain professional recognition for the Register of IT Technician (RITTech) and may progress to the Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship programme.
About Brine Leas School
Brine Leas School is a mixed comprehensive for students aged 11‑18, located in Nantwich, Cheshire. The IT team is based on site and also provides full support services to an additional 10 nearby primary schools, delivering tailored solutions across all sites.
