Pearson Carter, partnering with an established engineering business in Bridgend, South Wales, seeks a Software Systems Engineer to join its engineering team. You will contribute to software for high‑performance industrial equipment, from requirements through design, implementation, testing and commissioning.

The role combines hands‑on development with practical engineering, involving VB.NET, control platforms and automation technologies, with occasional overseas site visits and an onsite

Formación

• HND, degree or equivalent in Software Engineering, CS, Mathematics or closely related field.
• At least five years of professional software development experience.
• Demonstrable VB.NET experience and maintenance of established applications.
• Experience in software that communicates with machinery or industrial systems.
• Understanding of industrial automation or motion-control technology.
• Ability to translate requirements into practical software designs and documentation.
• Experience debugging, verification and testing.
• Knowledge of hardware interfaces in integrated engineering systems.
• Exposure to PLC-based control environments is a plus.
• Strong communication with engineers, customers and suppliers.

Responsabilidades

• Review customer specifications and determine software requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support equipment performance.
• Create and maintain software design specs and system architecture docs.
• Develop and maintain application software and machine-control functionality.
• Prepare technical records covering software configuration and operation.
• Design and execute tests to assess software performance and defects.
• Participate in software reviews and engineering meetings.
• Clarify requirements with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with software installation, integration, site acceptance and commissioning.
