Sanderson in Bridgend is looking for an experienced Software Systems Engineer to join our specialist engineering team developing software and control systems for complex automated machinery. This hands-on role sits where software meets hardware, taking ownership of design, development, testing and ongoing maintenance across products.

You will support and develop VB.NET control software and contribute to future projects using the best technologies.

Formación

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong VB.NET development experience.
• Experience in engineering/manufacturing/automation or machine-control environments.

Software Systems Engineer

Location: Bridgend

Salary: £60,000

Employment: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Software Systems Engineer to join a specialist engineering business developing software and control systems for complex automated machinery.

This is a hands-on engineering role sitting at the point where software meets physical hardware. You will take responsibility for the design, development, testing and ongoing maintenance of software used across both existing and future products.

A key part of the position will involve supporting and developing existing VB.NET control software, alongside contributing to future software projects using the most appropriate technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software and control systems for automated machinery.

• Analyse software requirements based on product specifications and customer requirements.

• Develop software using VB.NET and other appropriate technologies.

• Produce system specifications covering software design, interfaces and product requirements.

• Develop test plans, procedures and supporting technical documentation.

• Work closely with engineering, product development and production teams throughout the design, build and testing lifecycle.

• Integrate software with physical hardware and machine control systems.

• Investigate and resolve software and system issues across development, testing and live environments.

• Implement bug fixes, system modifications and product enhancements.

• Support the continued development and maintenance of existing VB.NET control systems.

• Liaise with customers, contractors and other technical stakeholders where required.

• Provide occasional support for installations at customer sites internationally.

Experience Required

• 5+ years' commercial software development experience.

• Strong experience developing software using VB.NET.

• Previous software development experience within an engineering, manufacturing, automation or machine-control environment.

• Experience or a strong understanding of software interacting with physical hardware.

• An understanding of machine control and/or motion control systems.

• HND, degree or equivalent experience within Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

You will be comfortable working on complex engineering systems and taking ownership of software throughout the full development lifecycle.

You should be able to work independently while collaborating closely with software, engineering and production teams, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose issues involving both software and hardware.

This would suit a Software Engineer who enjoys working on real-world engineering products, where the software you develop directly controls and interacts with physical machinery.
