Job summary

Grovelands Community Primary School, Hailsham, East Sussex, is hiring an Individual Needs Assistant for 30 hours per week, term-time only (25 hours + 5 hours Midday Supervisory Assistant duties). You will support an individual pupil within a mainstream setting, helping them access learning, build independence and engage with school life, working closely with the class teacher, SEND team and staff.

The role requires energy, patience and resilience; SEMH experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children in a school or similar setting.
• Knowledge or experience of SEMH needs is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support an individual pupil within a mainstream setting, helping them access learning, develop independence and engage positively in school life.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SEND team and wider school staff to provide consistent, nurturing support for the pupil.
• Help the pupil overcome barriers to learning, support emotional wellbeing and encourage positive relationships, behaviour and engagement.
