Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is assisting a welcoming primary school in Greater London to recruit a SEND Teaching & Learning Assistant with an SEMH focus. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, help manage behaviour and support learning in a specialist provision.

You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to deliver tailored support plans, build positive relationships and contribute to a calm, nurturing environment. Salary around £30,000 with ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and resilience.
  • Calm, patient and adaptable with good communication.

SEND Teaching & Learning Assistant (SEMH Focus)

Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs? We are working with a welcoming primary school that is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching & Learning Assistant to join their team within a specialist SEMH provision.

About the Role

This role is based within an internal resource base designed to support pupils with SEMH needs. You will play a vital role in helping students manage behaviour, engage in learning, and develop positive coping strategies in a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assist in managing behaviour and implementing intervention strategies
  • Support learning within a small, specialist provision
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and progress
  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver tailored support plans
  • Help create a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills and resilience
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Ability to build rapport and act as a positive role model
  • Team player with good communication skills
