Job summary

Gloucester Charities Trust is seeking an Independent Living Officer to support older residents in Gloucester city centre and four sheltered housing schemes. The role blends housing management, resident support, and community engagement, with regular scheme visits and office work.

You will monitor wellbeing, maintain records, and liaise with external services. DBS check and driving licence are required; travel between schemes is daily.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing or related social care.
• Ability to build positive relationships with residents and agencies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Proficient IT use and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Support residents to live independently and maintain their tenancies.
• Carry out resident welfare visits and wellbeing checks.
• Complete resident inductions and license-related administration.
• Monitor resident wellbeing and liaise with external agencies, relatives and professionals where appropriate.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, health and safety concerns and property risks.
• Promote resident engagement and encourage participation in activities and community events.
• Assist in resolving neighbour disputes and maintaining harmonious communities.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
• Respond to emergency alarm calls and resident emergencies when on duty.
