Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people in SEND settings.
  • Ability to work with children with autism, speech and language difficulties, or complex needs.
  • Strong observation and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils within the Inclusive Learning Pathway.
  • Support children with Autism, speech and language needs, and developmental delays to access learning.
  • Assist with sensory-based learning, therapeutic sessions, outdoor activities, Forest School.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, SLT, and on-site therapists to deliver holistic support.
  • Contribute to pastoral care and help pupils feel safe and ready to learn.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers.
  • Experience in SEND, Autism, SLCN, or complex needs.
  • Maintain calm, patient, proactive approach to emotion regulation.
  • Show genuine passion for inclusion, wellbeing, and child-centred education.

Job description

We are seeking Inclusive Learning Pathway Support staff to work within one of our partner SEND schools in Northumberland. This exceptional setting delivers a therapeutic and holistic curriculum tailored to children with Autism, speech and language difficulties, developmental delay, and complex communication needs. The school incorporates approaches such as Forest School, sensory-based learning, and creative interventions, supported by excellent facilities, on-site therapists, and a highly supportive Senior Leadership Team. There are strong opportunities for long-term and permanent roles for the right candidates. This rewarding role focuses on supporting children within an inclusive learning pathway, many of whom are non-verbal or have significant communication and interaction needs. You will help pupils regulate emotions, build independence, develop communication, and access learning in ways that meet their individual needs. You'll work closely with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to create a structured, nurturing environment where every child feels safe, understood, and empowered to thrive.,

  • Provide tailored support to pupils within the Inclusive Learning Pathway, both in and out of the classroom
  • Support children with Autism, speech and language needs, and developmental delays to access learning
  • Support pupils during sensory-based learning, therapeutic sessions, outdoor learning, and Forest School activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, SLT, and on-site therapists to ensure consistent, holistic support
  • Contribute to pastoral care, helping pupils feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, sh
  • Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within SEND, Autism, SLCN, or complex needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to support non-verbal communication
  • The ability to provide two recent references (work-based or educational)
