Job summary

School-Home Support in Birmingham is recruiting a Family Support Practitioner to deliver targeted casework to promote educational outcomes for children and families. You will work closely with school staff, focusing on attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning while based at the school setting.

You will need strong relationship-building and communication skills to engage with parents, carers, children and diverse communities, applying safeguarding processes as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in education settings or similar to improve school attendance and engagement.
• Engaging with parents/carers, children, or individuals through individual or group-based support.
• Understanding factors affecting a child’s ability to learn.
• Experience working with families from diverse communities.
• Holistic family support and safeguarding processes/referral routes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and families supported.
• Focus support to help improve attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.
• Based at the setting, work in close partnership with school staff to implement the plan.
• Demonstrate excellent relationship-building and communication with a wide range of people.
