Wilderness Way is hiring a Residential Support Worker to help children in care in the Carlisle area. Role involves building trusting relationships, creating a safe home, and supporting education, health, and wellbeing.

You may join as Residential or Senior Residential Support Worker depending on experience; pathways include mentoring and progression within the home. Commitment to safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with children, young people or vulnerable individuals across care, education or youth work.
• Strong communication skills and a positive, resilient approach.
• Willingness to work towards Level 3 qualification if not held already.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children.
• Create a safe, structured and nurturing home environment.
• Support children with education, health and wellbeing.
• Encourage independence, confidence and resilience.
• Help children access new experiences and opportunities.
• Support children to express their wishes, feelings and aspirations.
• Use trauma-informed approaches to support emotional wellbeing.
• Work with Managers, Therapists and MDTs to help positive outcomes.
