Job summary

Wilderness Way is recruiting for a Residential Support Worker to help children in our homes. You will build trust, support education and wellbeing, and create a nurturing, structured environment where young people can grow and feel secure.

We value resilience, positive engagement and the ability to mentor others when needed. Roles may include Senior Support Worker duties for experienced candidates, with progression opportunities within Wilderness Way.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Positive and resilient approach.
• Strong communication skills and genuine passion for helping children.
• Willingness to work towards a Level 3 qualification if you don't already have one.
• Be 21 or over due to requirements within children's residential care.
• Right to work in the UK; sponsorship not offered.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable driving for activities with children.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children.
• Create a safe, structured and nurturing home environment.
• Support children with education, health and wellbeing.
• Encourage independence, confidence and resilience.
• Help children access new experiences and opportunities.
• Support children to express their wishes, feelings and aspirations.
• Use trauma-informed approaches to support emotional wellbeing.
• Work with Managers, Therapists and multi-disciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes.
