Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Mentor for a welcoming secondary school in Salford, starting ASAP. You will support pupils to manage behaviour, build relationships and re-engage with learning.

The role requires prior school-based experience; SEN experience is desirable, and you will work with teachers, pastoral teams and support staff to deliver consistent, nurturing support.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in schools or education is essential.
• Experience in SEN provisions or PRUs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
• Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions and manage challenging behaviour.
• Building positive, professional relationships with pupils and acting as a consistent and trusted adult.
• Helping pupils re-engage with learning and develop positive attitudes towards education.
• Supporting pupils who may be at risk of disengagement, exclusion or persistent absence.
• Implementing behaviour support strategies in line with school policies and individual pupil needs.
• Working alongside teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to promote positive outcomes.
• Supporting pupils during lessons, social times and other periods where additional behavioural support may be required.
• Encouraging pupils to develop independence, resilience, confidence and appropriate social skills.
• De-escalating challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Maintaining appropriate boundaries and consistently reinforcing the school's expectations.
• Contributing to a positive, safe and inclusive school environment.
• Maintaining accurate records and communicating relevant information to appropriate members of staff.
