You will monitor pupil attendance, follow up absences, and work with pastoral and safeguarding teams to improve attendance. The successful candidate will have prior attendance-related experience, be confident with school systems, and able to handle confidential information while maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Attendance Officer or similar school-based attendance role.
• Understanding of attendance procedures within a secondary school setting.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Proficient with IT and school management systems.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record daily pupil attendance and absence.
• Follow up unexplained or persistent absences with parents and carers.
• Maintain accurate attendance records using school systems.
• Identify attendance concerns and patterns at an early stage.
• Work with pastoral and safeguarding teams.
• Support strategies to improve attendance.
• Communicate professionally with pupils, parents, carers and external agencies.
• Produce attendance reports and maintain documentation.
• Assist pupils and families to overcome barriers to attendance.
