The technician provides professional first-line ICT support to staff and students, managing allocated workloads via the helpdesk system. Key duties involve assisting with the maintenance of all ICT rooms and equipment, and providing general technical support for the department. Responsibilities include the commissioning, testing, maintenance, and repair of electronic and computer systems, associated peripherals, and AV equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation. They also assist in installing and configuring software under direction, updating inventories, and evaluating new and existing software.
Candidates should possess experience working in an IT support role. Practical experience with Active Directory and user account management is required, along with a good understanding of current software operating systems. Knowledge of network protocols and VLANs, and exposure to automated OS and software deployment techniques are essential. Desirable experience includes anti-virus solutions, connecting mobile devices to centralized services, or working in a school environment. Essential skills include effective communication, respecting confidentiality/security, and demonstrating excellent time management. Candidates must be willing and able to enhance their qualifications.
